The most important heritage owned by the Lomba do Pinheiro Community Museum and the Memorial of the Remião Family is the building itself: a house built in late 19th century, in a Portuguese colonial style, with bricks and mud mortar. From the thirties till the mid-nineties, there were established the Armazém Vencedor and the residence of Osmar and Marieta Remião.
The Museum’s collection embraces crafts for adornment, personal utensils of Remião Family and objects of the everyday life in the Lomba do Pinheiro District – specially representative objects of rural life. Another great attraction is the extensive collection of medicines and homeopathic remedies once sold in Armazém Vencedor.
The Community Museum’s document collection concerns to the entire community. It comprises official records of local properties and the local record of residents’ associations, historical documents of the district, personal documentation donated by residents, and magazines, such as O Cruzeiro.
The Lomba do Pinheiro Community Museum presents exhibitions about the district’s history and offers workshops on cultural heritage conservation. The local residents are free to make suggestions and help in the organization of exhibitions, which are open to all schools, as well as other institutions. Our main goal here is to share knowledge that values local history and the environment.
In addition, the activities comprise drama club, English classes, chess, cram school, special assistance for children with learning difficulties and computers with Internet access for typing and printing.
The Museum also houses part of the Leverdógil de Freitas Library’s collection – about 3 thousand books.
